DAMASO GALLEGOS Vintage Sterling Silver Pin - Taxco - Mexican - Post 1943 - Free Gift Wrap - Free US Shipping

Beautiful vintage sterling pin from Taxco, Mexico crafted by Damaso Gallegos (1895-1976). According to the particular hallmark, this pin is dated post 1943. Finely crafted with a lovely stylized leaf design culminating in a smooth green stone.

"Damaso Gallegos opened his own taller, La Amatista, after he worked at Hector Aguilar's Taller Borda. Some of his work was sold at Rancho Alegre....Gallegos's son, Antonio, continued his father's designs using the old Gallegos tools." (Hougart's The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks, 2006, pg. 69)

This piece is marked 925, DG in a circle, TAXCO, and STERLING on the back. Metals are not tested for purity in my possession, descriptions are based on the markings.

The brooch measures approx. 2 5/16" at the longest by approx. 1 1/4" at the widest.

Vintage condition. Pin is in working order. Light splotchy patina to the metal. Some surface wear...a tiny scratch on the front. This has NOT been polished in my possession.

This is older and has been worn, please expect light surface scratches and surface wear. Please look closely at the photos...many of which are magnified, as they are close-up shots. Color does vary with different screens. Patinas do darken in storage. I am always happy to answer questions.

Vintage. Do NOT use liquid silver polish or harsh chemicals on pieces with stones (especially turquoise) as those substances will cause damage. A simple silver cloth will do, taking care to avoid the stones as much as possible.
