Lovely vintage pin. Great design to brighten up your coat, scarf, or hat! Nice quality to this vintage beauty.
The brooch has a partial mark, but it is likely that this is a piece from Symmetalic. The partial mark is the tail end of SYMMETALIC, STERLING+1/2014K. These markings represent a specific line of jewelry produced by the Richards Jewelry Company of Massachusetts. Beginning at the turn of the century, the firm produced both silver and gold jewelry. “Symmetalic was the registered trademark of W.E. Richards Company first used in 1936 and found on the company’s high quality silver pieces….The Symmetalic pieces are usually in vermeil and show Edwardian and Art Deco influences. The jewelry is of high quality and superior to the firm’s silver jewelry with the WRE trademark.” Information from pg 38 of Rezazadeh’s 2001 Collectible Silver Jewelry Identification and Value Guide.
This pin has a partial mark on a plaque on the back...ALIC and /2C(or partial O?)14K
The pin measures approx. 1 3/4" across. It weighs approx. 8g.
Vintage condition. Pin mechanism is tight and in working order. Please expect some surface wear and scratches. This has NOT been polished in my possession.
This is older and has been worn, please expect surface scratches and surface wear. Please look closely at the photos...many of which are magnified, as they are close-up shots. Color does vary with different screens. Patinas do darken in storage. I am always happy to answer questions.
Vintage. Do NOT use liquid silver polish or harsh chemicals on pieces with stones (especially turquoise) as those substances will cause damage. A simple silver cloth will do, taking care to avoid the stones as much as possible.
